I was born with the name Anne Marie McNamara. My parents gave me this name; it is their gift to me.

I cherish this gift. However, my artistic soul struggled to be heard, my ego pushed down the ideas and created fear. The solution was to separate myself from the logical mind. Thus the pseudonym SUMMER became my artistic painting name. The name Summer represents to me my first active creative movement, my own birth. I was born the first day of summer; it was a full moon.

Creativity is a pure form of the spiritual connection. Ideally my artistic action is one of a lightful flow of playful watercolors, sometimes with the addition of sand, pumice rock, crushed colored glass, and other meaningful materials. In most of my work if not all I try to bring the sacred into visual thought.
