Other Professional Experience
  • Youth Worker, YMCA Aloha House, 1992-1997. Crisis intervention, counseling, monitor behavior modification programs, plan activities, lead teen group meetings, help train and supervise staff, document behavior of clients 13 to 20 years old. 
  • Juvenile Probation Officer for King County Juvenile Court, 1977-1987. Intake and detention screening for young offenders, and supervision of the children when they were released back into the community. These processes involved interviewing, counseling, investigating family background, and developing ongoing personal therapy programs for juveniles in trouble. I worked with felons the last two years at the court, many of whom had a history of violence. Part of the job was helping these young people decode their feelings and behavior in order to change their destructive patterns of living.
  • Guest Lecturer or panel member at Seattle Central Community College, Rainier Beach High School, Child Prostitution Conference, and University of Washington on legal, administrative, and career issues relevant to social work among young people.
  • Instructor, 1998. Informal workshop on safe touch, working with volunteers and utilizing on-site massage chair.
  • Instructor, 1999. Designed and taught with Mika Lutzenhiser a four-hour class on Safe Touch for Youth
